Kids should estimate the number of dots in each space and tap the one containing more dots. The ability to immediately estimate or differentiate the number of objects seen without counting is called subitizing. Math researchers discovered that the ability to subitize was closely related to number sense skills. Children who differentiated structures and numbers without counting showed higher progress in general math skills and numeracy.
